Ukiah Courthouse is a Design-Build Proposal by Turner Construction & HOK. This 3-story facility would include various department spaces as well as 7 courtrooms, with potential for an additional courtroom in case of future expansion. This proposal would bring the county seat's courthouse up to the standards of the Judicial Council of California.
The city of Ukiah is located in a valley in the Mendocino County in Northern California. The proposed site is directly adjacent to the Historic Railroad Depot; the tracks of which are unused, but are planned to be included in walking paths around the town in the future. The proposed building sites the Jury Pavilion and entry plaza across the historical structure, encouraging activation of these spaces for community uses in the weekends. The front of the building mimics the columnar expression of the train depot and emulates a civic feel. It also brings natural light and views of the surrounding mountains to the occupants waiting and navigating through the main circulation space.
