Existing in between furniture and architecture, the House Guest is able to support essential functions such as food preparation and storage, cleansing the body, disposal of bodily waste, clothing storage, heating, and cooling.
The name Strombus is descriptive of its form that is both shell-like and cloud-like. It is the genus name for the conch, but without a scientific family name to follow its nomenclature recalls that of a type of cloud. Strombus is a play on boundaries and the domestic. It houses domestic program on its 'interior' while expresses purely sculptural qualities on its 'exterior'. As the House Guest is meant to sit in a room like furniture piece, the space between a room's extents and Strombus' exterior form takes on a new character.
